SSSBCS Historical E-Book: 1987-2012 – A Journey Through Time
In the dimly lit corners of devotion, a spark ignited—a spark that would soon blaze into a radiant flame. Picture a small group huddled in a devotee’s cozy apartment, their voices harmonizing in soul-stirring bhajans. These were no ordinary gatherings; they were the seeds of something extraordinary.
The Birth of a Spiritual Journey
In 1989, destiny intervened. The group’s passion couldn’t be contained within four walls. They stepped out, emboldened, and registered as a Devotional Group with the Central Council of Sri Sathya Sai Organization of Canada. Suddenly, they weren’t just a few voices; they were a force—a beacon of love and light.
As their numbers swelled, so did their aspirations. The cozy apartment could no longer hold their fervor. Imagine the transition, from those intimate gatherings to the spacious 32 classrooms and the resounding Bhajan hall at Woburn Collegiate Institute. The walls echoed with devotion, and the air hummed with anticipation.
The Transformation: Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Scarborough
In 1990, a pivotal moment arrived. The Devotional Group shed its old skin and emerged as a “Sai Centre.” A transformation occurred where Active Members came together to form an Executive committee. Thereafter a Spiritual wing, a Seva wing, Educare wing and Youth wings were created. Bhajan singers came together to sing the glory of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. It wasn’t just about bhajans anymore; it was about community, growth, and shared purpose. The Sai Centre became a hub—a nucleus where hearts converged, and love flowed freely.
