“The future of the country depends on the skill and the sincerity of the youth. Therefore, the necessary enthusiasm and encouragement must be generated among the youth.”

~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba, December 11, 1985

The Young Adults Programme reinforces what has been instilled in the SSE program and builds on transforming each youth by presenting them with a sense of community with like-minded peers, opportunities to serve in the community, take leadership and grow spiritually. The Young Adults Programme provides the forum for our members between the ages of 18-40 to come together to walk the path of transformation in unity. The brotherhood/sisterhood built in this programme is the core that allows each member to grow to become an ideal citizen with love towards all, ready to render service to everyone.

The Young Adults Programme within the Centre aims to cultivate the following:

Spiritual Growth

The Young Adults Programme organizes study circles and book talks that allows the members to reflect on Swami’s message, share their own experiences and learn from one another. Through the study circle, one learns to instill harmony in body, mind and spirit to lead a purposeful life. The topics and book selection differ through the year and they discuss the practical ways that youth can lead meaningful, peaceful lives in this changing world. Our youth are also very active in all three wings (Spiritual, Educare and Seva) at our Centre. Our bhajans are often led by the youth at our Centre and most of our Gurus/Assistant Gurus in our SSE program are youth. Being actively involved in the Centre also allows the youth to grow spiritually as they continue to serve Swami.

“It is the privilege and duty of the young men and women to promote the welfare, progress and peace of the world. Transform all your actions into sacred duties.”

~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba, December 11, 1985

Community Service

Our Young Adult Programme revolves around serving the community. The youth at the Centre jump at every opportunity to serve in an intentional, selfless manner throughout the year. Currently, they are cooking and providing 200 meals on a monthly basis to a needed community in Scarborough. In addition to this monthly seva activity, the youth are always initiating and successfully carrying out various programs to meet the needs of our community (e.g. stocking up community fridges by sourcing the groceries from local stores, food drives, career fairs, workshops on various topics, distributing care packages and food to the homeless, tree planting, creating craft packages for the Sick Kids Hospital, etc.)

Inclusive Bond with One Another

The undercurrent to the success of our Young Adults Programme is the bond built and retained as a group. The Young Adults programme invests time and energy into not only individual transformation, but also as a group. Their Love for Swami is the glue that allows them to celebrate their strengths, find support for their needs and build relationships that carry them through life’s moments. In the process of serving the community and walking closer to Swami, the youth inherit a spiritual family and lasting friendships.

“One who practises and propagates ideals such as goodness, morality and truth is a youth in the strict sense of the term. In fact, only such people are your best friends and My best friends too.”

~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba, December 11, 1985

“I want you to be leaders to protect the world. Leaders like lions – self-reliant, courageous, majestic and just. Lion is the king of animals and I want you to be a king among men.”

~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba, December 11, 1985
