“Chanting the name of the Lord, the practice of Namasmaranam, is acceptable to all religions! Christians, Buddhists, Jains, the Mohammedans. Christians chant the glory of the name of Jesus. For the sikhs, the sacred name is everything. Chanting the name is acceptable to all. It brings about unity of all. It can bring about total harmony. Chant the Lord’s name. Make him closer to you. This is the easiest way. There is no easier path than this.” – Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The Spiritual Wing is an integral part of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization. The primary objective of this wing is to facilitate devotees’ spiritual progress based on Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings by incorporating various spiritual activities. These activities richly complement with other Wings of the Organization (Educational,Service and Youth) in spreading Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message in the community and helping individual’s progress on the Divine journey.

Bhajan

Sri Sathya Sai Baba says “There is no greater means of God-realization in the Kali Yuga than chanting the names of the Lord……There is a big difference between Keerthanam and Sankeerthanam. Keerthanam is an individual affair. It is singing by an individual for the fulfillment of his prayers. Sankeerthanam aims at the well being of the whole universe. That is the primary aim of Bhajan”.

In Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Scarborough, regular Bhajans are conducted every Thursday from 7:30pm to 8:30pm and Sunday from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.  Special Bhajans to commemorate festive occasions like Sivarathiri, Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s birthday, and Global Akhanda Bhajan are also held at centre level and regional level. Bhajan training activities are conducted regularly in the centre.

Study Circle

Sri Sathya Sai Baba says “What is a study circle? Study circle means taking a point and each person discussing what is the meaning of the point to them. Each person gives their point of view, and finally values are derived from this…..The study circle looks at different facets. It is like a diamond with its different facets, but there is one facet that is flat, the top facet, and from this all can be viewed. To discover the top facet is the task of the study circle.”

We conduct study circles on Bhajan days twice a month in English and Tamil alternatively. Special spiritual lectures and workshop sessions are conducted during special occasions by eminent spiritual leaders.

Jyothi Meditation

Sri Sathya Sai Baba says that meditation (dhyana) induces God to come down to you and inspires you and to raise yourselves to His level. Three stages in meditation are – concentration, contemplation, and meditation. Gearing all the senses into action is concentration. Concentration is below senses and meditation is beyond senses and border in between is contemplation. When one contemplates deeply, he meditates and transcends the senses. Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Jyothi meditation is practiced during Bhajan hours and in the classroom.
